Burundi will host from December 5th to 6th, 2024, its first ever Economic Forum which will observe the participation of development partners and private investors for the mobilization of resources aimed at achieving the Vision Burundi “emerging country in 2040 and developed country in 2060”.
The Government of Burundi is embarking on an ambitious transformation that aims to make Burundi an emerging country by 2040 and a developed country by 2060. The goal of this vision is to build a future where every citizen lives in dignity, with a flourishing economy supported by key sectors such as agribusiness, high value-added industry and responsible mining exploitation, all within a preserved natural environment and with strict respect for equity and inclusion.
To achieve this transformation, Burundi Government believes that the private sector plays a key role.
This economic Forum will provide a unique platform to explore growth and investment opportunities in high-potential sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, digital technologies, transport, mining, housing, tourism, health, education and processing agriculture.
It will be also a golden occasion to key decision-makers from the Burundian government who will present the reforms undertaken to improve the business environment, simplify taxation and strengthen investment security.
Participants will be informed on access to attractive incentives and facilities, such as tax exemptions, innovative financing programs and guarantee mechanisms for foreign investors.
They will also interact with local business communities and international entrepreneurs through exclusive networking sessions that encourage the creation of strategic partnerships and joint ventures in promising sectors of the Burundian economy.
Participants will benefit from a clear and up-to-date vision of the government’s priority projects, particularly within the framework of the revised National Development Plan (NDP) 2018-2027, aligned with the Vision ‘Burundi Emerging country 2040’ and ‘Developed Country 2060’.
